valentines

Brucy and I have started thinking about Valentine’s day that is coming up, and we are the few that actually love this day!

So I asked Brucy to give me some ideas on what I should ask for on this day (as I fully trust Brucy’s fashion opinion). We decided to have a look at ModCloth, as they have a fun Valentine’s day selection.

Some of her favourites included (from left to right):

Cute Polaroid Love Notecards at $14.99

A gorgeous heart-shaped belt at $14.99

A very UK-chic Cambridge Satchel at $164.99

Beautiful heels at $74.99

Fun, heart-shaped necklace (for your bff) at $36.99

Stunning navy-blue loafers for “me & you” at $39.99

Great selection of gifts for your loved ones (or presents that you can ask for;))

Cats are best building buddies!

unnamed

Following a very exciting trip to IKEA this weekend (you can’t NOT love IKEA!) we had some building to do and obviously Brucy was there to help! I think the absolute best part of IKEA is that it is fun for everyone – especially cats and they get SO much cardboard and boxes to play in after!

Sadly, Brucy’s asthma seems to be getting worse and she often wakes up coughing – the poor thing.. The vet suggested giving her a shot with a high level of steroids, but I think it might be a bit too much for her liver at her young age.. What’s your opinion? Have you given your cat medications at an early age?

Ahh Christmas is coming so soon and I still have so many presents to get!! Including presents for Brucy!! I am torn apart while picking her gifts – should be a new bed? Or a scratch tree? Or new toys??

I love this gorgeous banana leaf scratch tree, but I also know her love for tunnels and I know she would love this one.

Or maybe a new addition to her Catit Senses toys? Or maybe I should treat her to some dried fish snacks? Ah the choice is too difficult! What are you getting your cat for Christmas?

Baking cat-shaped cookies!

collage

Whilst shopping this weekend, I came across a set of gorgeous cat shaped cookie cutters at Muji. As I love baking and I love cats – I knew that I had to have them!

Sunday morning my kitchen turned into a cookie factory, with trays of cookies going in and out of the oven, spreading a delicious freshly-baked-cookie smell throughout the house.

The cookies turned out to be amazing and if you are looking for a recipe, here it is:

For 20+ cat-shaped, spicy cookies you will need:

-350 g. of flour

– 250 g. of brown sugar

– 250 g. of unsalted butter (room temperature)

– 1 egg

– 1 tsp. of “four spice mix” (mix of pepper, cloves, nutmeg and ginger)

– 1 tsp. of cinnamon (put 2 tsps if you don’t have the “four spice mix”)

– ½ tsp. of baking powder

– ½ tsp. of salt

  1. With a hand or mechanic mixer, beat the butter and the sugar until smooth. Add the egg and beat until the mixture until it is well combined. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, spices, baking powder and salt. Start adding the flour mixture to the butter and sugar, and beat at medium speed until combined.
  2. Form the dough into a ball and leave it in the fridge overnight.
  3. The next day, take out the dough and separate it into 2 equal parts. Roll out each part separately between two sheets of baking paper. Due to high amount of butter in the dough, it will be very sticky, which is why, you need to roll it out using baking paper. Leave the rolled out dough in the freezer for 20 mins.
  4. While the dough is chilling, pre-heat your oven to 180°C.
  5. Once the dough has hardened, dip the cookie cutters into flour and cut out the shapes. Place the shapes onto a new sheet of baking paper and leave the shapes in the fridge for another 10 mins to harder (this will help the cookies keep their shape when baked).
  6. Once your cookies have cooled, bake them for 10 mins., just once the ends start turning brown. Make sure you watch the cookies when they are in the oven as they can burn quickly if left too long!

Guess her favourite!

shopping

I love going a bit shopping crazy when I shop for Brucy but I rarely get it right! This weekend we went to the Animal Show and I bought Brucy loads of presents – but guess what toy she liked the most?

I picked a few sticks with furry feathers on the end and bells, a small mouse with a bell inside, a grass wheel with more feathers and a very smelly mouse stuffed with catnip.

Your guess? Brucy loved the tiny mouse most! It’s been 3 days that she throws the little mouse around the apartment and despite losing all of its resemblance to a mouse- it still stays her favourite toy! What are your cat’s favourite toys? And does anyone’s cat actually like catnip as I think it just stinks horribly!
