General on Brucy

#FlashbackFriday

collage

Today, I came across a whole bunch of photos of Brucy when she was a little kitten. Now, 2 years later, when she wakes me up 6 times a night because she wants to play/eat/run/bite my feet, I sometimes forget how cute and adorable she once was. I am sure many of you will agree that the kitten-days are the most blissful periods of owning a cat.

I know that it is an adopt-a-cat month and I will not lie, I am very tempted to adopt a cat #2. I would love to re-live the periods when your kitten fits in your palm as is too small to even jump on the sofa. Unfortunately, as I travel often, I am scared that finding a cat-sitter for two cats. But then Brucy would probably be excited to have a baby brother? What are your experiences with introducing a new cat into the family?

Tuesday Brucy-news!

collage1

I feel like I haven’t been giving you enough of Brucy-news so here a few stunning photos of my fur ball! She is doing great and haven’t been coughing recently as the pollution is currently lower in Paris. She continues to be naughty, trying to bite into my feet every time I stand up, but I am used to her silliness.

We are looking for cat toy ideas! It feels like she has everything – balls, mice, tunnels, cat senses, claw sharpeners and yet she doesn’t play that much with those. Any suggestions for great toys would be appreciated!

Cats of the New York City!

ny1

And we are back from New York! Terribly jet-lacked, with bags full of chocolate and shopping, and dying to see little Brucy who stayed with friends, yesterday we got back to Paris from our US holiday.

Needless to say that we found NY amazing. We were lucky to stay in East Village, next to Parsons Design Schoo and NYU – an area full of students, small, unique coffee shops, that reminded me a lot of London. We also visited the Times Square, Brooklyn, Greenwich, Soho and Chelsea – all amazing parts of Manhattan, each unique in its own way. In every part of New York we came across many cat references – in t-shirts, graffitis, books and art plays and here are a few in these photos!

Brucy was delighted to see us and get back home – I never heard her purr so much! So in summary, these very really purrrfect holidays!

Brucy is getting old!

unnamed

I know that many of your have been following Brucy’s hair loss story. As I said, this weekend, we went to the vet to find out why she has been significantly losing hair in the area between her eyes and ears. The vet checked her fur, skin, ears and you will never guess what her conclusion was! Almost immediately the vet said that Brucy is losing hair because of her age! She said that although hair loss can be a dangerous sign, when cats lose hair between their ears and eyes and there is no skin irritation (Brucy’s case), this is most certainly just a genetic, aging thing!

As you know Brucy is only 2.5 years old, so I was surprised to hear this.. but this is better than some scary diagnoses I read about online! The vet suggested giving her some vitamins but she said that they, like in humans, do not guarantee that any will change. So, I just got some anti-ticks treatments for her (just in case) and some more cortisone for her asthma.

So all is good and thank you for your support!!

Brucy’s hair loss

Cat experts, I need your advice! Last weekend, I noticed that Brucy is losing hair. She is only losing hair between her eyes and ears but the loss is quite significant. There are no red spots, no irritation, no marks.. Due to hair loss, you can now see her brown pigmentation spots but that’s normal, right?

I checked her ears and it doesn’t seem like she has ear mites. She doesn’t “excessively groom” herself (that could cause hairloss) and we haven’t changed her food recently. She acts normally but you can distinctly tell that she is losing fur! She is only 2.5 years old, so it’s a bit early to be losing hair because of age.

We will see the vet this weekend but meanwhile, maybe someone has advice? She hasn’t been stressed recently so I really have no clue what is happening!

The Catastic MoMA selection

moma, art, cat, new york

I am very excited to be going to New York next month for the first time and one of my must-see-places is the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). I was browsing through their website, looking to reserve tickets, when I came across their amazing online art-inspired store. Being the shopaholic I am, I couldn’t not share some amazing cat things!

For example,  I love this stunning Cat Luggage Tag designed based on a Michael Hartfelder 2010 print for only $8.00. And how beautiful is this red-and-orange, fluid birds mobile designed by C. Saddle and K. Komagata? I think its vivid colours would make it a great addition to any room.  Finally, let’s not forget about our furry friends – this designer fish-pet-mat is just what your cat needs!

Amazing, just another reason to go 🙂

Happy Easter from Brucy!

easter cat eggs

You may be wondering why you haven’t had any Brucy-news recently.. Well, as always, I have tones of work, so sadly, I have less time to give you daily news on Brucy’s adventures!

This weekend we celebrated Easter. Brucy spent most of her time chilling on the sun and occasionally trying to steal and eat Easter cakes. On Sunday, she decided to knock over a full cup of coffee on my bed and mattress – so Easter started off well!

Hope you all are well and also enjoyed the Easter weekend!

Brucy and her shoe-addiction

cat

It’s been a craaazy long time since I published a blog post! Sorry everyone, but I just have a manic time at work at the moment but I promise to find time to give you news on little Brucy! She has been behaving well recently – she stopped waiting for me behind each corner and then jumping on my feet, she doesn’t wake me up t 5am and she stopped eating everything she finds! Brucy’s new passion at the moment is shoes! Every time she sees a pair of shoes, she starts sticking her head in them and rolling around – it’s really cute!

Brucy is also coughing less at the moment, despite the pollution being extremely high in Paris. This weekend, we will be going away for the weekend and will be taking brucy with us – so adventure, here we come!

And because it’s Monday and we need some motivation, here are some cute kitten gifs!

Amazing cat bed from the Oregon Cat project

cat-house

The Oregon Cat Project, organisation that aims to eliminate euthanasia of homeless cats, posted this photo of a cat bed. I love it (not only because the cat looks like Brucy but also because the cats look so comfortable in it!!! They didn’t post where the bed can be bought so if you’ve seen it anywhere- let me know!!
