Your cat is getting fat? Get her a cat excercise wheel!

I couldn’t miss this new project on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter – One Fast Cat. I think by having a look at the video, you’ve already guessed the invention. Yes, it is exactly what it looks like – it is an exercise wheel for a cat. Forget about your cat feeling bored, getting depressed, destroying furniture and getting chubby. This exercise wheel promises to help your cat find a way to use his/her energy becoming more relaxed and calm (Brucy needs this!!).

According to the first testers (the owners of the beautiful Bengal in this video), the wheel does keep its promise: “Our cat now uses the wheel on her own several times a day”

Some technical info on the wheel from the producer:

  • Smart industrial design allows it to ship or retail in a very small box (box size).
  • This design also allows for it to be assembled extremely quickly for home use.
  • 48″ diameter wheel protects your cat’s back.
  • 10″ running tread provides plenty of space for feline footing.
  • Sturdy and lightweight for ease of moving it around.
  • It is made of Recycled plastics.
  • Run surface is made from a closed cell EVA foam to prevent claws from catching and allowing cats to run naturally using their claws for safe footing.
  • Can be cleaned by taking it outside and spraying it with a hose or wiped down with a wet towel.
  • Open design so cats can enter from either side.

How much does this amazing invention cost? If you support it on Kickstarter, you can get it for an offer $199 price. Sounds reasonable (if you have space for this wheel in your living room), so support this project!

The healing power of purrrrs! #tgif

This morning Brucy couldn’t stop purring while rolling on the floor and sniffing my shoes. Despite it looking a bit strange, I must admit that cat’s purring is one of the most comforting and relaxing sounds that I have ever heard.

As it is Friday and I am sure many of you had a long week, as the best Friday-relaxation-treatment I suggest you cuddle your cat and listen to her/him purr. And further amazing wonders that cat purring does can be found in this infographic:

Awful experiments on cats at the University of Cambridge

article-0-1E662A4500000578-342_634x356

Daily Mail published a horrific article today claiming that top UK Universities (including Cambridge) perform brain experiments on kittens. According to the article, the cats are regularly put thought horrific tests with their skulls broken and electrodes stuck onto their brains, ribs and spine. Those experiments are meant to help scientists find out more about problems such as the “lazy eye”.

During the experiments, the cats are paralyzed to stop them from moving and are killed following the tests. I don’t know how accurate the article is (it is Daily Mail in the end of the day), but if at least a bit of this is true, it is really awful and the Universities should be ashamed for such tests.

Images ae provided by PETA who are launching petitions to stop the testing!

So visit HOT GUYS WITH CATS, or like the website says “These photos prove ‘real’ men eat quiche! Or at least have cats.”

Tuesday Brucy-news!

collage1

I feel like I haven’t been giving you enough of Brucy-news so here a few stunning photos of my fur ball! She is doing great and haven’t been coughing recently as the pollution is currently lower in Paris. She continues to be naughty, trying to bite into my feet every time I stand up, but I am used to her silliness.

We are looking for cat toy ideas! It feels like she has everything – balls, mice, tunnels, cat senses, claw sharpeners and yet she doesn’t play that much with those. Any suggestions for great toys would be appreciated!

Cats of the New York City!

ny1

And we are back from New York! Terribly jet-lacked, with bags full of chocolate and shopping, and dying to see little Brucy who stayed with friends, yesterday we got back to Paris from our US holiday.

Needless to say that we found NY amazing. We were lucky to stay in East Village, next to Parsons Design Schoo and NYU – an area full of students, small, unique coffee shops, that reminded me a lot of London. We also visited the Times Square, Brooklyn, Greenwich, Soho and Chelsea – all amazing parts of Manhattan, each unique in its own way. In every part of New York we came across many cat references – in t-shirts, graffitis, books and art plays and here are a few in these photos!

Brucy was delighted to see us and get back home – I never heard her purr so much! So in summary, these very really purrrfect holidays!

Brucy is getting old!

unnamed

I know that many of your have been following Brucy’s hair loss story. As I said, this weekend, we went to the vet to find out why she has been significantly losing hair in the area between her eyes and ears. The vet checked her fur, skin, ears and you will never guess what her conclusion was! Almost immediately the vet said that Brucy is losing hair because of her age! She said that although hair loss can be a dangerous sign, when cats lose hair between their ears and eyes and there is no skin irritation (Brucy’s case), this is most certainly just a genetic, aging thing!

As you know Brucy is only 2.5 years old, so I was surprised to hear this.. but this is better than some scary diagnoses I read about online! The vet suggested giving her some vitamins but she said that they, like in humans, do not guarantee that any will change. So, I just got some anti-ticks treatments for her (just in case) and some more cortisone for her asthma.

So all is good and thank you for your support!!

2048 – the cat version!

2014-04-09_18h01_24

If you haven’t heard about the game 2048, you’ve been living on another planet. This web browser-game was created by Gabriele Cirulli and in just a few weeks became the ultimate world-wide on-line obsession. The idea is simple: you are given a 4 x 4 grid and you are required to move sequence of multiples of 2 around. When two same numbers touch – they add together. The goal is to reach a single tile with the value of 2,048. (Sounds simple, but I didn’t sleep for 2 days before I reached 2048!)

The original game is only browser-based but the application copy released by Ketchapp has been the top application of the last month!

This game is terribly addictive but for all cat lovers I suggest trying the cat version of 2048 available here.   http://2048cats.com/

Enjoy!

“Cats have satellite transmitters in their butts” claims #Buzzfeed!

I am massive fan of Buzzfeed, mostly because they love doing posts on cats, like this new one on: 15 Shocking Truths Behind What Your Cat Behaviours Actually Mean!

The idea is that if you think your cat is innocently rolling on its back or napping, it is actually plotting some evil plan to either scrath, bite or kill you!

Some hilarious examples include:

anigif_enhanced-21422-1395072591-3

“Experts” say: Tail sniffing is normal between felines, and this is your cat’s way of saying hello to you.

The truth: Your cat just cleaned its butt and wants to show it off to you. Look at that sparkling clean butt and say, “Very nice butt, cat. Good job.”

anigif_enhanced-31889-1395077321-1

“Experts” say: As kittens, cats will knead their mother’s stomach to produce milk, and this is most likely a leftover trait from kittenhood. It might also be an instinctual part of settling down to sleep.
The truth: Your cat saw an ad for baking classes in the local paper and wants to enroll. Write a check for $350 immediately.
